Reviewer Guidelines

Thank you for agreeing to review for Wiyata: Journal of Multidisciplinary Research. These guidelines explain your role and how the journal works, following the COPE ethical guidelines for peer reviewers.

Reviewer roles and responsibilities

  • Wiyata: Journal of Multidisciplinary Research uses double-blind peer review: the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other. Do not reveal your identity in your comments or uploaded files.
  • Reviewers provide an assessment and a recommendation. The final decision is made by the editor.
  • Accept an invitation only if the manuscript matches your expertise and you can complete the review on time.

Assessment criteria

Reviews are completed using the journal's Review Form, which covers:

  • Title, abstract, and keywords: clear, concise, and reflecting the content.
  • Novelty: state of the art, research gap, and aims.
  • Methods, analysis, and synthesis: appropriateness of the methods, depth of the findings, and comparison with other studies.
  • Conclusions: answering the aims without introducing new discussion.
  • References: at least 15, mostly primary and recent sources.
  • Fit with the journal's focus and scope.

Write substantive, specific, and courteous comments that set out strengths, weaknesses, and improvements the authors can make. Avoid comments that only concern grammar or layout. Points intended only for the editor belong in the comments to the editor.

Confidentiality and conflicts of interest

  • Manuscripts are confidential. Do not share, cite, or use ideas from a manuscript before it is published.
  • Do not upload manuscripts to AI applications and do not use AI to write your review.
  • Disclose any financial or non-financial relationship that could affect your objectivity. If you have a conflict of interest, decline the invitation.
  • If you suspect an ethical problem, such as plagiarism or data manipulation, inform the editor and do not contact the authors directly.

Deadlines and recommendations

  • Reviews are completed within 4 weeks of accepting the invitation. If you need more time, let the editor know as soon as possible.
  • Recommendation options: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject.
  • You may be asked to review the revised manuscript.
